Barton Springs Pool

One of the coolest places to visit in the South is Zilker Park in Austin, Texas. The Barton Springs Pool is approximately 3 acres in size and extends into the 358-acre Zilker Park. Because this natural spring is fed by multiple underground springs, the water temperature is usually between 68 and 70 degrees. Because of its beauty and cool waters, it has become a popular destination for Austin visitors.

You will need to purchase entry passes if you want to try to enjoy the waters. However, you can swim without an entry pass on certain days of the week from 9-10 pm or 5-8 am, but you do so at your own risk. There is a relaxation and lounge area around the pool, and different areas have varying depths. The pool can reach a depth of 18 feet. One of the best Texas day trips is to Barton Springs Pool.
