Fredericksburg
Fredericksburg is one of the cutest small towns in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Not only is Fredericksburg adorable, but there are also plenty of fun things to do there. It is close to both Austin and San Antonio, making it an excellent day trip from either city. It was founded in 1846 by German immigrants, and the German influence can still be found throughout Fredericksburg. There is unique German-inspired architecture, as well as plenty of German food. It is most likely the only place in Texas where you can get a taste of Germany.
If you don't have much time but want to see the highlights, they recommend doing the Fredericksburg Scavenger Hunt. It's located in the town's downtown district and takes you on a fun journey through the small town's history and landmarks. It's also a competition. This activity is especially enjoyable for younger children! After the scavenger hunt, browse the shops on Main Street, sample some German cuisine, or catch a live performance at Luckenbach Outpost. It's also a great option for day trips from Austin or San Antonio.
