Hamilton Pool Preserve
Hamilton Pool is a great day trip from Dallas and even a good day trip from Fort Worth. It is also one of the most enjoyable things to do in Texas! It is also conveniently close to Austin, Texas! The Hamilton Pool is part of the Dripping Springs Falls and is located in the town of Dripping Springs. The falls cascade over the cave's edge and into the Hamilton Pool, a calm pool of water.
Hamilton Pool Preserve is a historic swimming hole that the Travis County Commissioner's Court designated as a preserve in 1990. Hamilton Creek, located 3/4 mile upstream from its confluence with the Pedernales River, creates a 50-foot waterfall as it plunges into the head of a steep box canyon. The waterfall never completely stops flowing, but it does slow to a trickle during dry spells. Even during droughts, the pool's water level remains relatively constant. The preserve also supports a diverse range of native birds, fish, animals, and plants.
You'll have to take a short hike down to the pool to get there. The Hamilton Pool also requires reservations, which helps to keep the area from becoming overcrowded. If you want to go swimming in the pool, you must make reservations in advance. It is a popular attraction, and time slots fill up quickly. The Hamilton Pool is a stunning natural wonder that makes for one of the best Texas day trips. It is especially useful if you are looking for day trips from Dallas or Fort Worth.
