Beigan Island
Beigan island is one of the two main islands which belongs to Matsu Island only a short boat trip apart. Matsu's most popular old stone-house fishing village, Bennigan's Qinbi, recalls an antique Mediterranean hill-climbing community. The residences are two-story, with the second floor giving views of the sea and access to the wind. The bastion-like designs aren't by chance; pirate raids have been popular for a long time.
It is another fantastic place to visit if you want to take in the gorgeous scenery and white sand beaches of Banli Beach. The severely endangered Chinese Crested Terns can also be found on Beigan Island. You may also visit Daqiu Island to view Formosan Deer wandering and grazing if you extend your stay.
The ideal time to travel to Beigan is between April and June, when the water's "blue tear" phosphorescent microorganisms are most noticeable at night. Winters may be chilly and windy, while summers can be scorching, with the possibility of typhoons in the summer and fall.
