Boy A (2007)
Boy A is a 2007 British drama film directed by John Crowley and written by Mark O'Rowe, based on Jonathan Trigell's 2004 novel of the same name. After several years in jail, a young man is freed and given a new identity in a new community. He gets a job and friends with the help of a supervisor who becomes like a father to him, and he cautiously begins a relationship with a sympathetic girl. However, the secret of the heinous crime he did as a child weighs heavily on him, and he finds that escaping your past is not so simple.
On September 8, 2007, Boy A had its world premiere at the 32nd Toronto International Film Festival. On November 26, 2007, it aired as a television film in the United Kingdom on Channel 4, and on July 23, 2008, it was distributed theatrically in the United States by The Weinstein Company. The film received mostly excellent reviews from reviewers, and Garfield's performance earned him a British Academy Television Award.
