The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
The Amazing Spider-Man is a 2012 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man and named after the character's longest-running comic book series. It is the fourth theatrical Spider-Man film produced by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Entertainment, and the first of two The Amazing Spider-Man films. It is a reboot of the franchise following Sam Raimi's 2002–2007 Spider-Man trilogy. The plot follows Parker obtains extraordinary spider-like abilities after being bitten by a genetically enhanced spider, and sets out to defend the city from the machinations of a mystery reptilian antagonist.
The film was a box office hit, grossing $758 million worldwide and ranking as the sixth highest-grossing film of the year. On May 2, 2014, a sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, was published. In the MCU film Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), Garfield and Ifans reprised their roles, which dealt with the concept of the multiverse and linked the film to the Raimi and Webb series.
