Never Let Me Go (2010)
Never Let Me Go is a British dystopian romantic tragedy film released in 2010. It is based on Kazuo Ishiguro's 2005 novel of the same name. Mark Romanek directed the film, which was based on a script by Alex Garland. Ruth, Kathy, and Tommy spent their childhoods in what seems to be an ideal English boarding school. As they mature into young adults, they must come to terms with the depth of their love for one another while also preparing for the terrifying truth that awaits them.
In September 2010, Never Let Me Go had its world premiere at the 37th annual Telluride Film Festival, where the film's message was well received. The film premiered at the 54th London Film Festival and was also screened at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival. Never Let Me Go grossed a total of $9.5 million at the box office, with an extra $1.89 million in DVD sales. Never Let Me Go received mostly good reviews from critics, with most applauding the film's portrayals.
