Supporters of the British Junior Academy of Brussels (BJAB) recognized the need for their children to receive an excellent British-style education while living in Brussels. BJAB has been dedicated to giving students a top-notch education that will prepare them for success for more than thirty years.

Through project-based learning, STEAM education, and digital education, British Junior Academy helps students enhance their literacy while also fostering their ability to solve problems and think creatively about real-world problems.

Its coding curriculum is made to go along with the growth of the student; in EYFS, it offers game-based learning; in KS1, it offers block-based coding; and in KS2, it offers full text-based coding and practical robot programming.

At British Junior Academy, computing is incorporated into the curriculum starting in the Early Years, and digital literacy is a fundamental component of our education. With project-based and cross-curricular learning, students can incorporate a variety of subjects, including:

  • Making videos and slideshows
  • Prototyping and design thinking
  • Sound production and music technology
  • Science of materials
  • Sewing, design, and fashion

Modern smartboards are installed in every classroom, enabling educators and students to present information interactively. Since Year 1, iPad use has been taught and incorporated into regular class activities. Every class in Key Stage 1 is given a shared set of iPads. Beginning in Year 3, every student receives a personal iPad.

Students utilize the Microsoft 365 Education suite as a central location for course materials and homework starting in Year 5. Every student is given a unique email address and is trained to use the Microsoft suite in order to create and collaborate on assignments. Using a range of engaging STEAM project resources, such as Lego Robotics, Beebots, and Strawbees, students investigate learning through hands-on activities. Innovative teaching methods are used by BJAB prep school students.

Children's British Junior Academy can participate in a variety of experiences beyond the school's regular curriculum through optional extracurricular activities. These consist of imaginative and practical tasks, athletic endeavors, volunteer work, and chances to discover novel and fascinating topics that pique interest.

Sign-ups are open in the weeks leading up to the start of each new term. The clubs are rotated on a termly basis. Individual music lessons and other activities are offered by a range of skilled instructors in the BJAB community.
