ISF Waterloo International School
Young people ages 2 and a half to 18 can attend the ISF Waterloo International School (International School of Flanders). It is a part of the International Schools Council of Europe. Situated on the boundary between the communes of Waterloo and Sint-Genesius-Rode, the campus is situated south of Brussels.
With more than 200 enrolled students representing 49 different countries, classes are typically small, with about 18 students. All of the educators have received training in English as a Second Language. All students receive daily instruction in French.
ISF Waterloo International School was the first Belgian school to use Google for Education. Students use Chromebooks, tablets, and the Interactive Whiteboard that is set up in every classroom to access the educational materials on the Google platform. In primary school, the school uses the International Primary Curriculum. The Cambridge International exams are taken by middle and high school students.
The school was built on the site of the former World International School, which offered students in grades 2½ through 18 an international education in English. It took five years for ISF Waterloo to receive accreditation from both the Council of British International Schools and the Council of International Schools.
All ISF curricula include mandatory school field trips to nearby museums and attractions. Once a term, each class will go on a trip. In addition, ISF Waterloo International School attempts to visit at least one European nation annually, and students can participate in an exciting Model United Nations program.
Pre-school for ages 2 and a half to 4 offers a foundation for lifelong learning. Located in a spacious villa, it features classrooms, a kitchen, a lunch area, a rest area, and restrooms. Early Years Playground offers supervised breaks.
Students at International Primary are encouraged to cultivate their learning capacity and acquire the skills necessary to become lifelong learners. Students in this international program that is thematically based complete six IPC Units (themes) annually. For students whose first academic language is not English, ISF (International School of Flanders) Waterloo provides additional English as a special provision.
ISF Secondary School is an expert in the internationally renowned and acknowledged Cambridge International system of CheckPoint, IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education), and A-Level (Advanced Level).
