Canada Day Celebrations
Canada Day is the country's national holiday. It is a federal statutory holiday that commemorates the anniversary of Canadian Confederation, which took place on July 1, 1867, when the British North America Act of 1867 was passed, uniting the four separate colonies of Upper Canada, Lower Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick into a single Dominion within the British Empire known as Canada. The event was renamed Dominion Day (French: Le Jour de la Confédération) in 1982, when the Canada Act 1982 patriated the Canadian Constitution.
Canada Day celebrations are held across the country, as well as in numerous locations around the world, with Canadians living abroad in attendance. For Canadians, one of the most proud events is Canada Day, which is celebrated across the country in the same way that July 4th is celebrated in the United States. Throughout the day, visitors can see the residents and the streets dressed in red and white. To celebrate this day in the most traditional way possible, the celebration also features a large number of tasty Canadian beer and vivid fireworks. Despite the fact that this festival is held all throughout the country, Ottawa is undoubtedly the greatest place to be on this particular day.
