  2. Winterlude was founded in 1979 by the National Capital Commission (NCC) to honor Canada's distinct northern culture and climate. Our forefathers, who would assemble to enjoy each other's company throughout the long winter months, inspired the organizers.

Winterlude has been held in Ottawa-Gatineau every February since then. Over time, new activities such as the famed Bed Race and the Waiters and Waitresses on Ice Challenge have been added. Trotting on the Rideau, a horse race held on the Rideau Canal Skateway, was the first Winterlude event in 1979.

Winterlude is honored to be one of Ontario's distinguished Signature Experiences, as well as one of BizBash's Top 100 Events in the United States and Canada for 2021. On average, 600,000 people attend the celebrations.

Winterlude goes successfully year after year owing to the invaluable assistance of 800 volunteers. It offers a diverse and rich program in partnership with a number of partners. Tube sliding, skating, and viewing snow and ice sculptures are all must-do winter activities that share the focus with a cultural program.

    The Ex

The Canadian National Exhibition (CNE), often known as The Exhibition or The Ex, is an annual event held at Exhibition Place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, for the final 18 days leading up to and including Canadian Labour Day on September 1st. The CNE is Canada's largest yearly fair and the sixth-largest in North America, with over 1.5 million people each year.

In 1879, the first Canadian National Exhibition was held, with the goal of promoting agriculture and technology in Canada.

The CNE is an annual family ritual for many people in the Greater Toronto Area and its surrounding areas.

Festivals and Events Ontario, Tourism Toronto, and Attractions Ontario are just a few of the organizations that the CNE collaborates with to promote tourism to the Greater Toronto Area and the province of Ontario.

  5. Pride Toronto is an annual event held in June in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is one of the largest organized gay pride festivals in the world, with several stages with live performers and DJs, several licensed venues, a large Dyke March, a Trans March, and the Pride Parade. It is a celebration of the diversity of the LGBT community in the Greater Toronto Area. The city's Church and Wellesley village are at the heart of the event, while the procession and marches usually follow Yonge Street, Gerrard Street, and Bloor Street. The event was substantially larger than regular Toronto Prides in 2014, serving as the fourth worldwide WorldPride. Certainly, it is one of the most famous festivals in Canada.

Pride Toronto, a non-profit group, is organizing the event. A expanding staff of fourteen people supports the work of 22 festival teams, each of which is in charge of a different part of the event. Previously, each team was led by two or three volunteer team leads; in 2019, it was decided to reduce this to one lead per team in favor of a staff-centered strategy. Twelve volunteers on the board of directors will be in charge of the organization's long-term vision and strategic oversight, as well as the festival itself. The board currently has six members as of March 2020.

For the majority of its existence, Pride was a seven- to ten-day event held during the last week of June, with the parade taking place on either the last weekend in June or the first weekend in July, depending on the circumstances of the year. Since 2016, June has been designated as Pride Month, with a calendar of events running throughout the month leading up to the parade.

Olivia Nuamah was the organization's most recent executive director, serving from 2017 until 2020. Mathieu Chantelois, who directed the organization from 2015 to 2016, was succeeded by her in February 2017.

  7. Just for Laughs (French: Juste pour rire) is a comedy festival in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, held every July. It is the world's largest international comedy festival, having been founded in 1983. It has a television division as well.

  9. Every July in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, the Calgary Stampede is a rodeo, exhibition, and festival. The ten-day event, dubbed "The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth," draws over a million visitors each year and includes one of the world's largest rodeos, a parade, midway, stage shows, concerts, agricultural competitions, chuckwagon racing, and First Nations exhibitions. The Calgary Stampede was inducted into the Professional Rodeo Hall of Fame in 2008. With a huge draw, this is one of the most famous festivals in Canada.

The Calgary and District Agricultural Society staged its first fair in 1886, which was the start of the event. Guy Weadick, an American promoter, hosted the inaugural Stampede rodeo and festival in 1912. In 1919, he went to Calgary to arrange the Victory Stampede in honor of World War I veterans. When Weadick's festival united with the Calgary Industrial Exhibition in 1923 to form the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede, it became an annual event.

    The Calgary Stamped
e, which is organized by thousands of volunteers and backed by local authorities, has developed into one of the richest rodeos in the world, one of Canada's largest events, and a major tourist draw for the city. Rodeo and chuckwagon racing events are broadcast on Canadian television. However, animal welfare organizations and politicians worried about specific events, as well as animal rights organizations trying to outlaw rodeo in general, have increased their international condemnation of both.

  10. Canada Day is the country's national holiday. It is a federal statutory holiday that commemorates the anniversary of Canadian Confederation, which took place on July 1, 1867, when the British North America Act of 1867 was passed, uniting the four separate colonies of Upper Canada, Lower Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick into a single Dominion within the British Empire known as Canada. The event was renamed Dominion Day (French: Le Jour de la Confédération) in 1982, when the Canada Act 1982 patriated the Canadian Constitution.

Canada Day celebrations are held across the country, as well as in numerous locations around the world, with Canadians living abroad in attendance. For Canadians, one of the most proud events is Canada Day, which is celebrated across the country in the same way that July 4th is celebrated in the United States. Throughout the day, visitors can see the residents and the streets dressed in red and white. To celebrate this day in the most traditional way possible, the celebration also features a large number of tasty Canadian beer and vivid fireworks. Despite the fact that this festival is held all throughout the country, Ottawa is undoubtedly the greatest place to be on this particular day.
