Just For Laughs
Just for Laughs (French: Juste pour rire) is a comedy festival in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, held every July. It is the world's largest international comedy festival, having been founded in 1983. It has a television division as well.
Victor is the mascot and emblem for the Just for Laughs comedy festival. Vittorio Fiorucci of the Canadian Design Resource company designed it. A monster that preys on Montreal inspired the illustration. The emblem can be found on posters, T-shirts, event site markers, costumes, and inflatables all around the world.
At the request of advertising firm Cossette, animator Alan Best developed the character in 2005 as part of a full graphic update of the Just For Laughs brand. In 2007, a character named "Rose" was created to play Victor's wife.
The festival involves outstanding comedians and theater companies who strive for the most applause from the audience by participating, performing, and competing against one another. It's a one-of-a-kind fun and entertainment extravaganza that will leave you with a stomachache. National and international television outlets are now airing some of the festival's performances.
