Chickasaw National Recreation Area
The Chickasaw National Recreation Area, located in south-central Oklahoma near the small city of Sulphur, offers a wide range of thrilling outdoor pursuits to its guests. It is nestled in the foothills of the Arbuckle Mountains and is home to woods, lakes, waterfalls, springs, and streams.
The park's gurgling brooks and flowing rivers are ideal for fishing, swimming, and boating because they make up almost a quarter of its land area. The magnificent Lake of the Arbuckles, the area's largest body of water, offers guests picturesque picnic areas and campers.
Although water dominates and defines the recreation area, its lush woodlands are just as enjoyable to stroll through and are home to a variety of wildlife and plants that can be discovered. Visitors to the Travertine Ecology Center can engage in live courses and exhibits to learn everything there is to know about the ecosystems and nature of the Chickasaw National Recreation Area.
