Great Salt Plains State Park
Great Salt Plains State Park is located in northern Oklahoma and is situated on the shores of the picturesque, small, and salty lake of the same name. Its name is derived from the lovely plains of shimmering salt, which are all that's left of a once-vast prehistoric ocean and feature charmingly lonely landscapes that appear to go on forever.
The state park offers a variety of fantastic outdoor activities for tourists to enjoy in addition to its breathtaking landscape of endless salt flats. In addition to mountain biking and hiking, lake activities include fantastic boating and swimming, as well as some superb bird watching.
Surprisingly, Great Salt Plains State Park is the only location on the planet where you may go crystal-digging for selenite. Thousands of tourists visit the state park from April to October to look for the hourglass-shaped crystals, take in the breathtaking vistas, and partake in the other recreational activities.
