Route 66
Route 66 meanders from Chicago, Illinois, all the way to Santa Monica, California, and is one of the most famous and revered roads in the US. The "Mother Road" travels 3,940 kilometers through eight states, with one of its longest segments in Oklahoma.
Travelers to the state have long enjoyed taking road trips along Historic Route 66, which passes through vibrant, major communities like Tulsa and Oklahoma City. Additionally, it travels through several iconic American landscapes, with rolling farms and cornfields coexisting with isolated, rural towns and villages.
You can also visit a number of stunning monuments and museums in Oklahoma that are devoted to the well-known route. The National Route 66 Museum, for instance, is located in Elk City and explores the lives of those who worked, resided, and traveled beside the route. In contrast, Clinton's Oklahoma Route 66 Museum concentrates on enduring representations of the Mother Road and its ideas.
