Chislehurst Caves
Ranking the second place on our list of the most beautiful caves in the United Kingdom is Chislehurst Caves. Chislehurst Caves are a network of man-made tunnels beneath the suburbs of Bromley in South East London, originally excavated as chalk and flint mines. The 35-kilometer-long Chislehurst Caves, first opened to the public as a show attraction in the twentieth century, quickly became a famous tourist destination.
Chislehurst has been used for a variety of reasons over the years. It was used to store munitions during World War I and to shelter 15,000 civilians from air attacks during World War II.
