Curtiz (2018)
Curtiz is a 2018 Hungarian film directed by Tamás Yvan Topolánszky and based on the making of Hungarian filmmaker Michael Curtiz's 1942 Humphrey Bogart picture Casablanca. Tamás Yvan Topolánszky, Claudia Sümeghy, and Barnabas Hutlassa produced the film. Orian Williams served as Executive Producer, while Zsuzsanna Bak wrote the screenplay.
'Curtiz,' a documentary on director Michael Curtiz and the making of 'Casablanca,' follows the events leading up to the film's production. The film, set in 1942, just after the attack of Pearl Harbor and just before the United States entered World War II, depicts how the Hungarian government selected a political officer who prevented Curtiz from changing the screenplay. On the other hand, difficulties in his family, as well as his tumultuous connection with his daughter, add to his concerns while filming. Nonetheless, Curtiz perseveres and crafts a work of art that is regarded as one of the best romantic films ever made.
