Deep Rooted Tree

Deep Rooted Tree is a South Korean television series that premiered in 2011 and starred Han Suk-kyu, Jang Hyuk, and Shin Se-kyung. Based on Lee Jung-novel myung's of the same name, it aired on SBS from 5 October to 22 December 2011 at 21:55 on Wednesdays and Thursdays.


Deep Rooted Tree is neither a classic historical drama nor a romantic comedy. Be prepared for conspiracies and political intrigues with elements of tragedies, mysteries, and thrillers before you commit to viewing this series. If you appreciate funny, heart-stopping, and heartbreaking dramas, this one will most likely join your list of the finest dramas you've ever seen.


The plot begins with King Se Jong accidentally killing his family and slaves while attempting to defend them from his violent father, King Tae Jong, who has all authority. Fortunately, two young slaves survive, but they are separated. One of them is reared as a servant in the palace, while the other grows into a valiant warrior seeking vengeance. Years pass and the former slave (who has vowed to assassinate the monarch) returns to the palace. He does, however, become entangled in the mystery surrounding a series of killings.
