Edamame
Edamame, immature soybeans that you steam or boil for a few minutes while they're still in their pods, is another frozen dish you can always have in the freezer. Edamame beans are whole, immature soybeans, sometimes referred to as vegetable-type soybeans. They are green and differ in color from regular soybeans, which are typically light brown, tan, or beige.
As a soy product, edamame is also high in plant-based protein, fiber, and isoflavones, which are thought to be mainly responsible for soy's health advantages. Soy isoflavones may have favorable benefits on a variety of aspects of health, including heart health, weight control, certain types of cancer, type 2 diabetes, menopausal symptoms, etc. Edamame can be eaten as a side dish, in a salad, or in a bowl, just like falafel. Traditionally eaten in Asia, edamame has gained popularity in Western countries, where it’s typically eaten as a snack.
