Elon Musk
Elon Musk is a business magnate and investor. Musk has an estimated net worth of roughly $238 billion as of September 26, 2022, according to both the Bloomberg Billionaires Index and Forbes' real-time billionaire list. Musk started SpaceX, an aircraft manufacturer, and space transport services company, in 2002, and he currently serves as CEO and Chief Engineer. He was an early investor in electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla Motors, Inc. in 2004. (now Tesla, Inc.). He moved through the ranks to become the company's chairman and product architect before becoming CEO in 2008. He was a founding member of SolarCity, which Tesla acquired and renamed Tesla Energy. In 2015, he co-founded OpenAI, a non-profit research organization dedicated to the advancement of friendly artificial intelligence (AI). In 2016, he co-founded Neuralink, a neurotechnology startup focused on developing brain-computer interfaces, and The Boring Company, a tunnel construction firm. Musk is the founder and chairman of the Musk Foundation, which promotes scientific research and education. He has proposed a high-speed hyperloop vactrain transportation system.
Musk has been chastised for making unscientific and provocative statements, such as propagating misinformation about the COVID-19 pandemic and supporting divisive political and technological viewpoints, particularly on Twitter. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of the United States sued Musk in 2018 for tweeting that he had secured funds for a private acquisition of Tesla, which the SEC described as false and deceptive. He reached an agreement with the SEC but did not acknowledge guilt, and he stood aside as Tesla's chairman for the time being. In 2019, he prevailed in a slander suit launched against him by a British caver who assisted in the Tham Luang cave rescue. In 2022, Musk agreed to purchase Twitter for $44 billion but later submitted a termination letter of the deal, leading to lawsuits between both parties.
