Neymar
Neymar is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain and the Brazil national team. He is recognized as one of the top players in the world due to his prolific goalscoring and legendary playmaking. Neymar is one of three players in history to have scored at least 100 goals for three separate clubs. Neymar rose to popularity with Santos, when he made his professional debut when he was 17 years old. Neymar was crowned South American Footballer of the Year twice, in 2011 and 2012, and moved to Europe to join Barcelona. Motivated to become a club talisman, Neymar joined PSG in 2017 for €222 million, making him the most expensive player in history. In France, he won four league titles and was named Ligue 1 Player of the Year in his rookie season, among other accolades. Notably, he helped PSG attain a domestic quadruple in the 2019–20 season, and led the club to its first-ever Champions League Final.
With 75 goals in 121 appearances for Brazil since his debut at the age of 18, Neymar is the country's second-highest goalscorer, after only Pelé. He played a key role in Brazil's victory in the 2011 South American Youth Championship, finishing as the tournament's top goalscorer, and he won a silver medal in men's football at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He won the FIFA Confederations Cup in 2013, as well as the Golden Ball the following year. Off the field, he is recognized as one of the most prominent athletes in the world. SportsPro ranked him the most marketable athlete in the world in 2012 and 2013, and ESPN labeled him the world's fourth-most known athlete in 2016. In 2017, he was selected to Time magazine's annual list of the world's 100 most influential people. France Football ranked Neymar the world's third highest-paid footballer in 2018. The following year, Forbes named him the world's third highest-paid athlete, a position he will hold until 2020.
