Emirates Stadium

Emirates Stadium (known as Ashburton Grove before sponsorship and Arsenal Stadium for UEFA competitions) is a football stadium in Holloway, London, England and the home stadium of Arsenal. With a capacity of 60,260, it is the fourth largest football stadium in the UK after Wembley Stadium, Old Trafford and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and is among the top 15 most expensive stadiums.

In 1997, Arsenal explored the possibility of a move to a new stadium, but were denied permission by Islington Council to expand their home stadium, Highbury. After considering various options (including the purchase of Wembley Stadium), the club purchased an industrial and waste disposal site in Ashburton Grove in 2000. A year later, they received the approval of the club. Council approval to build a stadium on the site, which manager Arsène Wenger described as "the biggest decision in Arsenal history" since the appointment of Herbert Chapman by management. The relocation began in 2002, but financial difficulties delayed the work until February 2004. Emirates was then announced as the main sponsor of the stadium. The entire stadium project was completed in 2006 at a cost of £390 million. The club's old stadium was redeveloped into Highbury Square, an apartment complex.

The stadium has undergone "Arsenalization" since 2009 with the aim of restoring tangible links to Arsenal's history. The stadium has hosted international matches and concerts.
