Wembley Stadium
Wembley Stadium (branded as Wembley Stadium connected by EE for sponsorship reasons) is a football stadium in Wembley, London. It opened in 2007 on the site of the original Wembley Stadium, which was demolished between 2002 and 2003. The stadium hosts major football matches including home football matches. England national football and the FA Cup Final. Wembley Stadium is owned by English football's governing body, the Football Association (FA), with its headquarters located at the stadium, through its subsidiary Wembley National Stadium Ltd (WNSL). With 90,000 seats, it is the largest stadium in the United Kingdom and the second largest stadium in Europe, more specifically the 6th expensive stadium in the world today.
Designed by Populous and Foster and Partners, the stadium is honored by the 134 meters (440 ft) tall Wembley Arch, which serves as a landmark across London aesthetically as well as structurally, with The dome supports more than 75% of the entire roof load. The stadium was built by Australian company Multiplex at a cost of £798 million (£1.22 billion today).
