The highest bid goes to SoFi Stadium, the new home of both the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers. Completed in September 2020, this massive facility is slated to host the Super Bowl in 2022, and the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games in 2028. Because it's privately funded, There are no public figures on SoFi Stadium's costs. Based on construction costs, it is estimated to cost around $5.5 billion.
The SoFi Stadium was originally valued at less than $2 billion, but after numerous construction delays and cost overruns, Rams owner Stan Kroenke will eventually have to pay double that amount for the stadium 70,000 seats. After borrowing another $500 million from the NFL to get the project to the finish line, SoFi Stadium finally opened its doors in 2020 — just in time for the COVID-19 pandemic.
Not only in terms of infrastructure, the capacity is not up to 70,000 seats, so Sofi Stadium has topped the list as one of the most expensive stadiums with an estimated construction cost of $5.5 billion.
