Emma Matilda Lake
Emma Matilda Lake is located in the American state of Wyoming, near Grand Teton National Park. The lake has the name of William O. Owen's wife, who with three other climbers was the first to reach the top of Grand Teton in 1898. The 4.3 km long natural lake is accessible through a 1.6 km hike from Two Ocean Lake's parking lot or a somewhat longer hike from Jackson Lake Lodge. The Teton Range can be seen in the distance from the lake's 17.2 km Emma Matilda Lake Trail, which encircles it.
For a longer trek, hikers can descend to Emma Matilda Lake, where they can complete a 10.7-mile round. Hikers will encounter views of the Teton Range as they round the lake's edge. Early through midsummer, the region is covered in wildflowers, which brighten the scenery and create breathtaking views. Keep your bug spray handy! Emma Matilda Lake is a favorite spot for mosquitoes because of the moist, marshy landscape. The 390-hectare lake can only be reached on foot by traveling 1.6 kilometers along a trail from Jackson Lake Lodge or the parking lot of nearby Two Ocean Lake.
