Phelps Lake
Phelps Lake is located in the U.S. state of Wyoming, near Grand Teton National Park. The park's southernmost region includes the natural lake, which is situated at Death Canyon's entrance. There are several hiking paths close to the lake, with the most well-known being a 2.9-kilometer roundtrip climb to the Phelps Lake overlook. This is one of the largest lakes in Wyoming.
The Phelps Lake Overlook provides access to Phelps Lake. Hikers descend to the shoreline via a series of switchbacks from the overlook. Visitors can reach the Phelps Lake Loop Trail from there and go for however long or short they like. It's an arduous climb back to the viewpoint on the hike there. For the return trek, visitors who are not accustomed to the altitude should allow extra time and pack lots of water.
The "jumping rock", which serves as a natural diving board, is the most famous feature of Phelps Lake. The 300-hectare lake is nine meters below the rock, which is located on the lake's northern shore.
