Eungyo (2012)

Eungyo, also known as A Muse in certain regions, is a 2012 South Korean erotic love film based on the novel Eun-gyo by author Park Bum-shin. A 70-year-old poet falls in love with a high school girl and is motivated to write a short tale about her, but his star pupil steals his literary work because she is envious of the connection.

This was the film that got it all began. Kim Go Eun happened to attend an audition while visiting a friend who was working on the film. She had never expressed an interest in acting previously, yet she was able to land the job after beating out 300 other candidates. She even turned down the director's offer at first but was persuaded after discussing it with her father.

Kim Go Eun's portrayal of Eungyo, an innocent yet passionate student, is difficult to forget. The fact that it was Kim Go Eun's debut part and first time acting is, to say the least, astounding. She played Eungyo so easily that it didn't appear like her first time acting. She made such an impression that she won multiple new actress prizes, including Best New Actress at the Blue Dragon Film Awards.
