Fatty Fish
Alexandra Caspero, MA, RD, a nationally known nutritionist and part of the HUM nutrition team, suggests that eating fatty fish can help with hair growth and possibly make your tresses stronger and healthier over time. As Caspero pointed out: "Salmon, sardines, and mackerel are packed with healthy omega-3 fatty acids, essential fats that we must get from food. Not only are they helpful for reducing the risk of heart disease, but they also keep hair shiny and full".
Taking a supplement combining omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids as well as antioxidants decreased hair loss and enhanced hair density in 120 women, according to research. In another research, women with thinning hair who took a fish oil supplement had a substantial reduction in hair loss and an increase in hair growth. Fatty fish is also high in protein, selenium, vitamin D3, and B vitamins, all of which may help with the development of strong bones.
