Floralia Brussels
Floralia Brussels is one of the most famous festivals in Belgium. This spring flower exhibit attracts around 35,000 visitors each year. In the greenhouse of the grounds of the 12th century old castle Grand Bigard, visitors may appreciate the beauty of flowers spread out in a 14-hectare park (Groot - Bijaarden).
With millions of planted flowers presenting varied hues and beauty, this is regarded one of Belgium's most magnificent spring flower shows. The Floralia Brussels Festival not only features an outside flower viewing area, but also an inside flower display space of almost 1,000 square meters. Floral arrangements such as lilies, daisies, roses, daffodils (astromeria), gerbera daisies (gerbera), freesia (freesia), red lilies (amaryllis), rum (calla), tulip... all crafted by the skilled hands of craftsmen from all across Belgium.
Castle gardeners must hand plant over a million flower bulbs in order for a new group of flowers to bloom. The tulip, which comes in over 400 types, is the flower that draws the most attention during this festival of colors, but hyacinths and daffodils also leave an unforgettable effect on visitors. Guests, however, are not permitted to enter the castle and may only wander around admiring the surrounding floral gardens. Floralia Brussels requires a lot of time and work to prepare since each flower cluster is planted by hand. Furthermore, floral designers have been working on this display idea for months in order to provide magnificent flowers for the event.
Visitors to the Floralia Brussels festival can also partake in a variety of other activities. Visitors may rest and enjoy the flowers with their families at the café shops on the property, which provide outdoor seating and a children's play area.
