The festival's inaugural iteration took place in 2011 and focused only on the city's historical areas. Every new issue demonstrates how the event has progressed. The celebration has now grown to encompass not just the city center but also the industrial regions.

The Zythos Beer Festival in Leuven is the world's largest festival dedicated solely to Belgian barley beer and it is the most famous festival in Belgium. The Zythos Beer Festival takes place every year in Leuven, the capital of the province of Flemish Brabant, around 25 kilometers from Brussels. Given how well-known Belgian beer is throughout Europe, this is an excellent opportunity to sample new flavors in the heart of Europe. You may expect a few hundred kiosks with various beers and brewers where you can exchange your token for a sample of one of the numerous Belgian beers presented in a 15 ml glass.
