Ghent Light Festival

“When the sun goes down, thousands of lights illuminate Ghent”

Belgium is recognized for its spectacular light festival. In Belgium, however, as the fasting month begins on Easter Sunday, regions or cities hold Carnival events, which are a distinct cultural culture. The festivities have distinct features depending on the locale. At the annual festival of lights, an LED-lighted cathedral with a magnificent atmosphere was lit up.

Built of wood and artistically painted with seven rainbow hues, Led Church is a mix of Romanesque and Renaissance architecture. It stands 91 meters tall and is illuminated by 55,000 LEDs. With over 30 distinct light performances and installations, Luminaire De Cagna has become the festival's center point. This is the year's most stunning light festival, attracting almost half a million visitors. A great crowd gathered to witness the Led light church and observe the magnificent light performances at the shopping complex. Light sculptures or strolling through a shimmering halo never fail to impress.

Ghent Light Festival
alters its look from 7 p.m. till midnight. Around the city, there are up to 50 different light-based installations, sculptures, and performances. To see all of the exhibits, you'd have to travel 5 kilometers through the center. Ghent Light Festival is a beautiful setting for this event. The festival's inaugural iteration took place in 2011 and focused only on the city's historical areas. Every new issue demonstrates how the event has progressed. The celebration has now grown to encompass not just the city center but also the industrial regions.
