Furnas Lake
A well-known location on So Miguel is Furnas Lake, which is perched above the eastern flanks of the island's three active volcanoes. Cozida, a traditional stew cooked in a hole in the earth heated by volcanic activity, is a dish that is traditionally prepared in Furnas Lake's bubbling, mineral-rich geothermal springs.
One of the most beautiful lakes in Portugal, this stunning crater lake has volcanic hot springs. Visit this tranquil location by taking a short detour. A church and an even more stunning green field surround it, and on most clear days, the chapel shimmers magnificently in the lake's sparkling, crystal-clear water. While the volcanic activity is fantastic and fascinating to see, you might find some tranquility by taking a peaceful walk around the area. Additionally, with a variety of fumaroles and mud pools, it offers you the greatest in natural beauty. Visits are very worthwhile.
The tranquil and lovely surroundings around the lake are breathtaking. Even though it was dense further up the hills, the forest was well-kept and practically manicured around the lake. The lush green of the trees and grass contrasted with the flowering flowers of all hues. This scene will make you have the impression that you are strolling through a home garden. The Furnas Lake was serene, with neatly mowed grass lining its sides, making it ideal for a picnic.
