The tranquil and lovely surroundings around the lake are breathtaking. Even though it was dense further up the hills, the forest was well-kept and practically manicured around the lake. The lush green of the trees and grass contrasted with the flowering flowers of all hues. This scene will make you have the impression that you are strolling through a home garden. The Furnas Lake was serene, with neatly mowed grass lining its sides, making it ideal for a picnic.

At the conclusion of a short climb near Sao Miguel, Azores, you will find the tranquil Lagoa Do Congro (green lake). If you prefer sunny days to cloudy ones, summer is the greatest time to visit because there are higher chances of having one. In June, hydrangeas also begin to bloom, lending blue hues to the otherwise green surroundings. In contrast to winter on the mainland, winter in the Azores is different. The variation in temperature between summer and winter is not particularly great, and temperatures are always in the positive.

The lagoon spans two channels, the "Braço do Barrosa" to the east and the "Braço do Bom Sucesso" to the west, with a total size of around 6.9 km2 and an average depth of 2 meters.
