Lagoa de Óbidos
One of the "hearts" of the town of Caldas da Rainha is Lagoa de Óbidos. On the Portuguese coast, this system of lagoons is regarded as being the largest. The lagoon is a haven for many species and a destination for sports enthusiasts because it contains salt water.
The lagoon spans two channels, the "Braço do Barrosa" to the east and the "Braço do Bom Sucesso" to the west, with a total size of around 6.9 km2 and an average depth of 2 meters. For those who enjoy trekking, we can tell you that it is 6 km long and can vary in width between 1 and 1.5 km, allowing for extended walks with beautiful scenery.
