Gallery (East Woody Beach)
A concession from the Dhimurru Aboriginal Corporation is necessary to visit Gallery (also known as East Woody Beach), a spotless waterfront environment. The Gove Peninsula's northernmost point, Cape Wirawawoi, is reached after 3.6 kilometers of leisurely sweeping turns along the beach facing north. The beach sits 2 kilometers to the south of Nhulunbuy and is surrounded by a number of beach ridges. It is reachable by road from Nhulunbuy.
There are parking lots in the middle, at either end of a gravel road that runs parallel to the back of the beach. The Nhulunbuy sewage treatment plant is situated on the western end of the beach, close to the small Galaru hamlet. Areas of vibrant Yolngu culture connect to the sparkling wild. If you happen to have some good fortune and get to experience thriving native networks in person, the trip is definitely worthwhile.
The recreation areas include stretches of open backcountry, hidden inland streams, and both sandy and rugged seashores. More than 260 different species of birds soar to the skies, boiling streams erupt, savannah woods abound with substantial untamed life, primitive wetlands overflow with fish, crocodiles, and spectacular marine creatures, and "remote" assumes sharp importance.
