Yamba
"With Byron Bay becoming increasingly crowded and overvalued, many now refer to Yamba, 120 kilometers to the south, as "the new Byron"." It's a phrase we came up with back in 2019, but despite all the attention, Yamba manages to maintain its clear quintessence and strong sense of place.
The late spring days in this sleepy town, which is located 300 kilometers south of Brisbane and 682 kilometers north of Sydney, are spent exploring its renowned seashores. Angourie, which is renowned for having arguably the best surf breakers in the nation, is a little further away from home.
The town falls asleep earlier than expected and lacks the nighttime energy you may find in the lauded Byron and Noosa areas. Whatever the case, that is merely a component of the allure. Due to the pressure of its burgeoning renown, Yamba refuses to move at any speed other than its own.
