Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions
Haruhiro and a group of other strangers awake in a strange tower with no memory of their arrival. Following the opening of their temporary jail, the diverse men and women immediately discover they have arrived in a completely strange place to their hazy recollections.
To survive in this different world, Haruhiro joins forces with a few more inmates, and they attempt to exist by slaying monsters and collecting just enough currency to avoid starvation. This universe is undoubtedly mysterious, though one thing is clear. Haruhiro must develop talent and bravery if he is to survive unless he chooses to follow in the footsteps of the dead.
Most isekai have a very straightforward structure; the protagonist either dies or is called to a fantasy realm to become a superhero. Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions eschew many of these cliches instead of immersing the protagonists — and spectators — in a mysterious realm where many questions are raised, but few are addressed. Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions are perhaps one of the few isekai that goes unmentioned and causes us anguish. If you're looking for an isekai that's doing things in a new way and has an amazing cast and wonderful animation, you're going to adore Grimgar even more than we do.
