Grotte di Petrosa-Auletta
The Petrosa-Auletta Caves, which are 263 meters above sea level, are a unique natural treasure in Europe. This is one of the most beautiful caves in Italy. They are located on the eastern side of the Alburni mountains in Muraglione, 3 kilometers (1.9 miles) south of Pertosa and adjacent to its railway station. The caverns are abundant in water due to the presence of the Tanagro river, and there is an underground lake after the main entrance. It is the only speleological site in the world where you can traverse the underwater waters. Stalactites and stalagmites that have evolved so much that they have built genuine columns may be found inside these amazing caverns, which are 45 minutes from Salerno (in Campania). These caverns are a huge underground monument that has been around for over a million years and are one of the safest locations on the planet.
