Haigh's was started in 1915 by Alfred E. Haigh. In 1917, Alfred began creating chocolate-covered fruit centers, bringing his own unique flavor to the business. It was time to expand because business was flourishing.

The company is still creating chocolate from scratch over a century later, using raw UTZ-certified cocoa beans as a source. It introduced the Easter bilby in 1993, which has since become a local legend. To make award-winning chocolates, the chocolate maker uses only the best ingredients, including premium cocoa beans, and artisan skills mixed with specialized chocolate-producing procedures.


John Haigh is responsible for the taste of Haigh's chocolates as we know it now more than anybody else. He turned Haigh's into a world-renowned producer of high-quality chocolate that is regarded as among the best in the world. He developed the exclusivity of Haigh's in-store experience and the way Haigh's is marketed to this day, in addition to the product's quality and flavor. He created the groundwork for an Adelaide family firm that is thriving and expanding across Australia.


Haigh's is a true institution with sites in Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra, and it's a pretty good one at that.
