Jockey (Permanently Closed)
Jockey, which opened in 1945, was a well-known historic restaurant that provided Spanish and French cuisine. It ran in Spain's capital city for nearly seven decades, until 2012.
Because of its famous background as an elite gathering spot for the powerful, history lovers adored going to this eatery. Politicians, state heads, celebrities, and even chefs have flocked to this restaurant to sample the classic haute cuisine it has freely given since its inception.
Thousands of people were drawn to the skewered roast fattened pig with its distinct European flavors. Jockey also developed its own version of a stuffed chick that, while quite unremarkable at first look, had a unique flavor. Wine was never far away in this house. In fact, one restaurant had 700 bottles of wine, champagne, and other alcoholic beverages on hand to satisfy all of its patrons.
