Kent Beach
Kent is the Chesapeake Bay's biggest beach and a historically significant location in Maryland. A small canal known as the Kent Narrows divides it from the Delmarva Peninsula to the east, and a four-mile (6.4-kilometer) stretch of water separates the island from Sandy Point, a neighborhood near Annapolis, on the other side.
Kent Beach, which is about 20 miles east of Annapolis, 40 miles southeast of Baltimore, and 50 miles east of Washington, has a couple of excellent beach spots. The 276-acre Terrapin Nature Park features a picturesque walk that travels through wildflowers, marshes, forests, and a sandy beach. In addition to a picnic area, an outdoor amphitheater, and many hiking routes, Matapeake Beach gives greater space to stretch out and sunbathe. A section of Matapeake Beach is also dog-friendly. When you've worked up an appetite, stop by a bayfront restaurant for some delectable seafood, such as Maryland crabcakes.
