North Beach
Unlike other Maryland beaches, visitors to North Beach must purchase a pass at the town’s welcome center before going to the beach, despite it being a public beach. Those who reside in Calvert County receive a discount on the pass. The waters of the Chesapeake Bay are available for swimming, sunbathing, or fishing/crabbing. An additional pass is necessary for those who wish to fish, with the exception of all Calvert County residents. The town also features a boardwalk that allows dogs, which must stay off the beach and be leashed at all times.
North Beach, located in Calvert County along the Chesapeake Bay, is a convenient day trip from Washington or northern Virginia. The beach is on the tiny side, but it's open for swimming and relaxing, and you can rent umbrellas, chairs, kayaks, and paddleboards here. A boardwalk is available for tourists to stroll or cycle along, as well as a fishing pier for those with a fishing license. There are a variety of curiosity shops, antique stores, and art galleries to visit in town, as well as informal and expensive dining options and a history museum for visitors to enjoy.
