Kibale National Park
Kibale National Park is located in western Uganda, approximately 348 kilometers (5 hours) from Kampala and 26 kilometers south-east of Fort Portal. The beautiful forests that cover the hills and valleys of Kibale National Park are home to a wide array of primates who playfully swing from branch to branch between the trees. The chimpanzees and red colobus monkeys that Kibale protects are the park's principal attraction, and many visitors come to see them.
The park is also home to over 325 species of birds, 13 species of primates, a total of at least 70 other species of mammals, and over 250 tree species. The variety of tree species on offer is in large part why just so many types of primate call the area home and birds too are prevalent throughout the park. With one of the largest primate populations in Africa, Kibale National Park is well worth a visit and the scenery here isn’t bad either!
