    Mbale

Mbale is a picturesque town in Eastern Uganda, located 230 kilometers from Kampala, with Mount Elgon as its main attraction. This large town was founded at the turn of the twentieth century and has since become a popular tourist destination. Hiking up Mount Elgon or the neighboring Wanale Cliffs is one of the best things to do in Mbale. Mount Elgon, which stands at 4,321 meters, is an extinct volcano on the Kenyan-Ugandan border.

Uganda is home to over 1000 different bird species, and a large number of them can be observed on a birding safari in Mbale. The Kapkwai forest exploration center offers excellent opportunities for birders since it has most of the bird species found in the Elgon national park. Back in the town itself and you can enjoy the hustle and bustle of day-to-day Ugandan life, along with plenty of shops and market stalls.

    • Kibale National Park is located in western Uganda, approximately 348 kilometers (5 hours) from Kampala and 26 kilometers south-east of Fort Portal. The beautiful forests that cover the hills and valleys of Kibale National Park are home to a wide array of primates who playfully swing from branch to branch between the trees. The chimpanzees and red colobus monkeys that Kibale protects are the park's principal attraction, and many visitors come to see them.

The park is also home to over 325 species of birds, 13 species of primates, a total of at least 70 other species of mammals, and over 250 tree species. The variety of tree species on offer is in large part why just so many types of primate call the area home and birds too are prevalent throughout the park. • The Ssese islands are located in the Kalangala District, approximately 51 kilometers from Entebbe. Fishing is the primary source of income on the islands, but tourism is rapidly catching up. The Ssese islands are one of the most popular tourist attractions while on a Uganda tour. Pristine waters, white-sand beaches, and virgin rain forests characterize the Ssese islands. The island is situated in a tranquil, sparsely inhabited location, allowing Ugandans to get away (for a short time) from the hectic life of the city.

Visitors to the Ssese Islands should expect to take part in several activities, including canoeing, beach games, swimming, nature walks, boat cruises, biking, and, of course, visiting the local fishing communities. The romantic atmosphere around the islands makes them the perfect place for holidaymakers, couples, lovers, and honeymooners. The islands are ideal for birdwatching and seeing little primates (Vervet and Colobus monkeys). The rare species found on the islands will astound birders. Turacos, African fish eagles, jewel pygmy kingfishers, palm-nut vultures, hornbills, paradise flycatchers, and barbets are among the species discovered.
