Mount Elgon National Park
Mount Elgon National park is located in the Eastern part of Uganda just a few kilometers away from Mbale Town. The park sits in a total land area of 1145 square kilometers that covers the extinct Volcanic Mountain. The park got its name from the largest attraction found in the park that is Mt Elgon. The Mount Elgon National Park's rock-ribbed, jungle-topped highlands are dotted with so many natural wonders that describing them all at once can be impossible. There are waterfalls, gloomy cave systems, and steep gorges cascading down from the extinct caldera of one of Africa's oldest volcanoes.
Visitors can also experience geothermal activity at a succession of hot springs, or look up to see African goshawks and exquisite bush-shrikes flitting through the air. There are De Brazza's and colobus monkeys, as well as blue monkeys and other unusual simian species, to name a few.
