King of the Hill
Mike Judge and Greg Daniels produced the animated comedy King of the Hill for Fox Broadcasting Company, which ran from January 12, 1997, to May 6, 2010. The Hills, an American family living in the imaginary city of Arlen, Texas, as well as their neighbors, coworkers, relatives, students, friends, and acquaintances, are central to the story. Hank Hill, the series' protagonist, patriarch, and everyman, works at Strickland Propane as an assistant manager.
The show was hugely popular in its first two seasons, with more than a 10-point Nielsen rating. In 1990, the show was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety, Music, or Comedy Series. The series received international acclaim for its bold move and all-time high ratings by running a live, special episode as a counterprogram to CBS's live telecast of Super Bowl XXVI.
