Kotelok Mussels Bar

Mussels, like aubergine 'caviar,' are as much a part of Odesa's culinary culture as aubergine 'caviar' (cold vegetable stew). Kotelok is all about Black Sea mussels served with a variety of dips, including the famously local combo of paprika and brynza goat's cheese. It's set up like a bar, with a row of seats facing an open kitchen. Along with forshmak, a non-maritime 'caviar' is included in the list of delectable appetizers (minced herring).


Fresh and only Black Sea mussels (no room in their kitchen for frozen shells from elsewhere) and other local seafood like as rapana, tyulechka, and fresh fish catch available in season.

Their main course is Belgian in origin. "Moules Frites" is a dish of mussels in a variety of sauces served with crispy french fries and toasted bread. They have around a dozen different beers for the pot, including Belgian and handmade Ukrainian beers.
