La Chorrera
The most impressive and one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Colombia is called La Chorrera, and it is 590 meters high. Just for that, it is well worth the trip from nearby Bogota. Being nearly 600 meters tall has its drawbacks, including making it nearly hard to observe the entire cascade at once. You can stand beneath one of the smaller waterfall steps and feel the water fall on you even if you are unable to swim here. The waterfall is found inside the Parque Aventura La Chorrera Ecopark and is reached after hiking 2.5 kilometers through fields and woods. 35,000 COP is the lowest entrance cost per person. But this does include a drawstring bag, a drink, and some snacks in addition to the personal hygiene package. There are several packages available that include lunch and additional bonuses. The mist, which occasionally appears at the top of the waterfall, is one of the reasons why this waterfall is frequently described as mysterious or romantic.
You must ride a bus from Bogota to Choachi, requesting to get off at La Chorrera on route. You may either take a taxi from there or walk 5 kilometers to the park's entrance; fortunately, the path is primarily downhill. Once within the park, the trail is straightforward although occasionally treacherous and muddy. To guarantee there is sufficient of water flowing, try to visit on a dry day after a recent storm. Despite Cascada La Chorrera's amazing statistics, not many people travel the 13 kilometers outside of Bogota. Due to the availability of camping and adventurous activities like abseiling on the weekends, the park is well-liked by locals. Visit on a weekday for a more serene, calm experience.
