Lady Bird Lake
A beautiful lake known as "Lady Bird Lake" divides South Austin from the rest of North Austin and is one of Austin's most redeeming natural features. Paddlers often use their kayaks or canoes to enjoy this urban amenity every day of the year. The Austin skyline gives a stunning backdrop to the lake as you cross the renowned Congress Avenue Bridge to the east.
Lady Bird Lake provides a ton of recreational opportunities for the state capital, including hike and bike trails around the shoreline, as well as lake paddling, rowing, and fishing. Early morning kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, or even sculling on the lake is recommended. You may also jog/walk/ride along the well-kept trail that runs alongside it. Once that, there are hundreds of great local restaurants within walking or bike distance after you've taken it all in. Arrive early to avoid the crowds and the heat.
