Lake Balanan
Located in Siaton, Negros Oriental in the Philippines, Lake Balanan is a lake. It is a freshwater lake with a figure-of-eight shape in the mountainous region in the southern part of the island of Negros. The narrowest point between the two main segments of the lake is only 90 meters wide. Three tributaries, all near its northern end, feed the lake, which is bordered by mountain ranges. These include the Nasig-id Creek at the northwest end, the Balanan Creek in the center of the northern end, and the Lamarao Creek at the northeastern corner, all of which have waterfalls.
Lake Balanan differs from other equally well-known lakes in the Philippines by appearing to meander and taking the shape of an eight. The distance between the two major parts of the lake is only 90 meters at the point of intersection, making it the narrowest. This unusually shaped lake has a tranquil, contemplative atmosphere that makes it the ideal eco-tourist location to relax in nature.
One of the best tourist destinations to visit for those looking for beautiful forests filled with century-old trees is Lake Balanan, which is located in the mountains of Siaton, Negros Oriental, just 60 kilometers from Dumaguete City. Outdoor activities including kayaking, hiking, zip-lining, and riding a Banca (dugout canoe) across the lake are ideal in this lake's vicinity.
